Earth Hour and an Update.

I can't believe it's been 6 days since I've written a post.
But I have a good reason, bloggers:
I've had my nose in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" for almost this entire spring break.
AND I FINALLY FINISHED!
This 12 year journey with my favorite fictional characters has come to an end,
and it has been amazing.

In other news, Earth Hour was last night!
My mom and I were the only ones homeso we turned off all the lights, lit a bunch of candles,
and played Scattergories for an hour.
It was pretty fun!
And I love feeling like for one small hour I am helping save the earth!
Here is a couple pics of our candle-lit Earth Hour:

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Whenever I get really into a book series I tend to stop reading right before the end.
It's some weird little habit I have and my best guess would be that it's because I just don't want it to end, so I put it off for as long as possible.
I started reading Harry Potter long before it was popular.
I believe I was in the 4th grade, and there was only 2 books out.
(I dressed up as HP for Halloween that year and no one knew who I was, THAT'S how long ago.)
I have been to every midnight book and movie release for the series
but for someeee reason, I put off reading the 7th and final book!
After 3 long years, (I can't believe no one has ruined the ending for me)
I AM FINALLY GOING TO FINISH IT.
Sadly, all good things must come to an end.
*sigh*

Here is a picture of Me, my best friend Cory, and my brother Connor on our way to the midnight release party for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, in the summer of 2007.
Me as Hermione, Cory as Harry, and Connor as Neville :)

Let's Go Back.

I want to go back to this.
To being kids forever.
To when my biggest problem was the hole in the foot of my favorite Jasmine feetey pajamas.

To when I loved spending time with my Grandpa,
and he was always going to be there.
Back to when we didn't have to feel hurt or pain or suffering,
when we didn't have a care in the world because
we just didn't know.

Back to when I was fearless.
To when I could fling myself off a diving board like a crazy person, without a second thought,
and try new things without being scared.

To when we could pretend we were grown-ups by holding Daddy's wine glass,

and when my brother was my best friend.

When did we grow up? It seems like only yesterday we were just kids who didn't know change or heartache or death. I want to go back so it will stop. I want to bring back the joy in life for those who are no longer able.

I want to feel like I can do anything and be anyone and not be worried to get close to people because I'm scared I'll lose them. I want to be lighthearted and carefree.

But most of all, I want to enjoy and love people
because life is built upon love.
Recent events have had me thinking a lot about how short life is. We should not take even a single second of it for granted.
I want to be a kid, but I feel lucky that I'm not because it means I have lived and am still living.
We all need to live everyday to its fullest, being happy and loving others
in memory of those who no longer get to.

This post is dedicated to Larissa Hartman.
A beautiful girl who touched the lives of so many people with her strength and spark.

Quote of the Week

"When I am anxious it is because I am living in the future. When I am depressed it is because I am living in the past."
-Jimmy R

I like this quote because it is so incredibly true.
Whenever I project too far into the future I get filled with anxiety and stress about what is to come because it's something I can't see, and whenever I think too long about memories of the past it makes me depressed knowing I have no way to get that back.
The moral of it is, we should each live in the present while we can. Enjoy what life is giving us right now and make the most of it.
All we have is now.

Krista!

YOU GUYS!
Don't ask my why it took this long but,
I just found out my bff Krista has a blog!
She is a graphic design major at KU so she has some of her stuff up on her page and it's really cool (which means you should check it out!)!
I miss sitting in her room watching her work on her projects
so it's nice to still be able to see some of them.
Plus, I miss her so so much. She is such a light in my life.

"Gitchee gitchee goo means that I love you!"

A Tribute to Titanic and the Oscars

I love Oscar night. My family has always been huge movie-goers because my dad has worked in the industry for years, and we make it a point to see every nominated movie we can before the ceremony. We each fill out a copy of the Oscar Ballot before the show and compare who predicted the most wins throughout the night.

When we lived in California we used to share this tradition with another family (the Welsh's, aka my best friend Cory) and we would all gather around the TV and gaze at the good looking celebrities in their fancy gowns on the bold red carpet. Cory and I used to fight over who would get to marry Leonardo DiCaprio because he made our hearts melt after "Titanic."

1998 was the first time I remember loving the awards and it was because of Titanic. I saw that movie 7 times in theaters, including two times in one day and once on Christmas eve. Needless to say, the movie's amazing-ness allowed it to win 11 Academy Awards that year, including the prestigious best picture award.

In my opinion, no film has topped it since (not even James Cameron's new film Avatar. I'm sorry but, it can't). It touched my heart and convinced me that epic love stories do exist. I was only 8 at the time but I'll never forget the obsession I had with everything about it (I had 3 Titanic posters and 6 books on Leo for God's sake!) and the way it made my 8 year old heart feel.

So here's to Oscar night again with 2 of my favorite actors/comedians hosting and some great movies being nominated. Tonight I'll be rooting for Up, A Single Man, and Inglorious Basterds.
